Zoning Board of Adjustment and Appeals (ZBA)

When there is an active case to consider, the Zoning Board of Adjustment and Appeals holds regular meetings at 7:00 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month in the Council Chambers at Town Hall (1614 S Bowen Road), when there is a case to be heard. Special meetings may be scheduled as necessary. All meetings are open to the public and agendas will be posted online and at Town Hall no later than seventy-two (72) hours before the scheduled start time. Town Ordinances provide for the creation of a "board of development appeals", consisting of five members who are appointed by the Town Council for staggered two-year terms. These members serve as both the Zoning Board of Adjustment and the Zoning Board of Appeals. The Board of Adjustment considers requests for variances to specific requirements under the zoning ordinance. As the Board of Appeals, they consider requests for relief from interpretations, determinations, or decisions made by staff under those requirements.
