Driving Safety Course or (DSC)
If you are eligible to take a Driving Safety Course (DSC) and your request to do so is approved by the Judge, successful completion of the program may keep the traffic offense from being reported on your driving record. Do not enroll in a course before being approved for this option. You must be approved by the Municipal Judge prior to beginning your Driving Safety Course (DSC).
You may request to take a DSC (PDF) by mail within thirty (30) days from the date your citation was issued. Your application will be forwarded to the Judge to determine eligibility for the program. If eligible, you will then pay court costs and fees and submit proof of a current Texas driver’s license and current proof of auto liability insurance. Once all of these items are received by the Court, you will have ninety (90) days, to complete the course via a third-party vendor of your choosing and submit to the court proof of having completed a qualified DSC along with a copy of your driving record from the Texas Department of Public Safety. You can request this record online or via mail (PDF).
You are NOT eligible to keep a violation off of your driving record via DSC if any of the following are true:
You will be notified by mail if your request is denied by the Judge. If you are not eligible to keep a violation off of your driving records via completion of a DSC, you must enter your plea in person or by mail. If you enter your plea by mail, you must use the back of the citation you were issued.
