Jessie Hanks began service as City Secretary of Pantego on February 13, 2017. Jessie's precious experience includes a year and a half as the Community Development Support Specialist for the Town of Pantego. She came to Pantego from the non-profit sector where she over saw records management, event planning, and corresponding with clients, Board members, and the public. Prior to work for the non-profit, she was with the City of Grand Prairie, where she served two years as the Recycling Intern.

She is in the process of obtaining her BBA in HR degree from Texas Women's University and a Texas Municipal Clerks Certification for the University of North Texas. She is originally from Grand Prairie and is a graduate of South Grand Prairie High School. 

The Office of the City Secretary is at the forefront of the legislative and administrative processes in local government. The duties and responsibilities are assigned by the various state statutes and Town ordinances.

These duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Attend all meetings of the Town Council      
  • Keep minutes of the governing body's proceedings
  • Engross and enroll all laws, resolutions, and ordinances of the governing body
  • Keep the Town's seal
  • Take charge of, arrange, and maintain the records of the governing body
  • Countersign all commissions issued to municipal officers and all licenses issued by the Mayor and keep a record of those commissions and licenses
  • Prepare all notices required under any regulation or ordinance of the municipality

In the Town of Pantego, the City Secretary is also required to attend and record proceedings of the Pantego Economic Development Corporation. The election of local officials is coordinated and conducted by the City Secretary in conjunction with the Tarrant County Elections Administrator.
