Stop Child Deaths in Hot Cars!

Deaths of children left unattended in vehicles during summer months is on the rise! Why! All of us are human and we forget; but, we should NEVER forget our children!

The Pantego Police and Fire Departments have decided to make it their number one goal during the summer to prevent as many deaths of children due to abandonment in hot cars! We will advocate for children everywhere through educating parents and effecting a change of attitude.

The Where's Baby and Look Before You Lock campaign was developed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 2014 and together we can make a difference! Literature is provided free of charge to help educate people about the dangers of leaving a child in a vehicle during high temperatures. Besides being illegal it is just plain reckless!

Texas Law

Texas law states that it is a violation to leave a child younger than seven (7) years of age in a motor vehicle for longer than five (5) minutes unless the child is attended by someone who is at least 14 years of age.

We recommend NEVER leaving a child unattended in a vehicle for ANY length of time; there are just too many unpredictable variables. Children are a precious commodity; let's protect them at all costs!
