Notice of Public Hearings on Tax Increase
Truth in Taxation laws require that when a proposed tax rate for the entity's budget exceed the rollback rate or the effective tax rate, whichever is lower, the taxing unit's governing body must vote to place the proposal to adopt the tax rate in the agenda as an action item. If the motion passes, the governing body must schedule two public hearings on the proposed tax rate and notify the public of dates, times and place of these hearings.
